PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

“Aprons & Overalls”

I would like to thank everyone for supporting the Walkerton Agricultural Society and the Walkerton Little Royal Fair over the past 171 years. lt takes everyone in the community to make things happen. There has been an overwhelming response from our community through sponsorships and donations. We welcome you and your family to come and enjoy our fair. We are always looking to include new members in our society and invite you to become a member. Our society is full ofdedicated members who work hard together to reach our common goal. We are a fun group of individuals and would be thrilled to have you join us. Volunteers make our community better.

Over the years, the focus of the Walkerton Agricultural Society has been to help educate everyone, on what rural life is all about and to help explain where our food comes from. lt helps teach our young people that being in a community, is belonging to the community and helping the community wherever, we can. That is the true motto of a volunteer.

Our fabulous Drive Thru Roast Beef Dinner will be on October 1st, to help kick off our Little Royal Fair. This year, our Saddle Show will be held on Saturday and the Heavy & Light Horse Shows will be on Sunday. Changing the schedule has allowed us to offer more opportunities for everyone to enjoy and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all our participants The midway will be returning this year along with numerous shows and activities for all age groups. I want to encourage everyone to buy the Family Weekend Pass for the fair and enjoy the whole weekend. You will be able to buy day or weekend passes for the Mid-way separately.

Our facilities continue to be used for many functions in the community; Roots of Bruce in April, Saugeen Hospice Garage Sale in June, Walkerton Car Show in July, Dirt Pigs Ball Tournament followed by The Holstein Show in August, and the Vendors Market in October. Our Ambassador program, the Run for Health and Hike for Hospice, along with many other events use our facilities.

After the fair is over, we always look forward to the Car and Trailer storage rentals that help us maintain our buildings. This year the ice will be going back into the Horse Palace to support minor hockey in our community again with the help of the Walkerton Recreation Department. Our boardroom and facilities can also be rented out for meetings, Christmas parties or other familyfunctions.

2024-2025 Fair Ambassadors

Jr.Ambassador
Adelynn Ernest

I was so honoured to be chosen as the Junior Ambassador representing the Walkerton Agricultural Society for 2024-2025. To achieve this
honour, I successfully wrote a resume and was interviewed by three judges.

Last October, I spent the entire weekend at the Little Royal Fair. My favourite part was judging the pet show. I handed out ribbons at the horse shows. I was given a ride on a three hitch unicorn rig. That was exciting! During this weekend I was given many opportunities to introduce myself and speak in public.

Later in October, I attended the fall District 10 meeting at Rocklynn. At this meeting, I met many other Society Ambassadors. During this meeting, we learned about finding our voices and not to be nervous talking in front of crowds. This has really helped me with my public speaking. I met many new friends that day. I hope to see them all again
at the spring District 10 meeting which is being held in Wiarton. As Ambassador, I had the opportunity to represent the Walkerton Agricultural Society in the Walkerton Santa Claus parade. All the little children were amazed to see us on our float. I saw many family, friends and people I knew which brought a smile to my face. Representing the Walkerton Agricultural Society has been a great experience and I recommend to all youth to consider to run for the Walkerton little Royal Ambassadors.

Fair Ambassador
Madison Hopcraft

Hello, my name is Madison Hopcraft, and I have received the honor of being the 2024-2025 Senior Ambassador of the Walkerton Agricultural Society.

This has been an amazing experience to be a part of the Walkerton agriculture society and to make new connections and meet lots of people. I have experienced new friendships and have gained so much knowledge by being a part of this group. I cannot wait for the next ambassador to step out of their comfort zone and begin their journey into the agriculture scene.

The best part of my experience was the Walkerton Fall Fair. The fair is something that everyone looks forward to and is something that can be enjoyed by all ages. I am so excited to see more activities and fun things that will happen at the fair, including our traditions.

I hope to see lots of people to keep coming to the fair and support our local farmers and to keep asking questions and staying curious about the world around us.
